Catching Bill...

Speaking as just one Gnome who contributed just one song, Crazy Cells, to this wild and obtuse little rock opera, I will share what I know or think I know about it.

At the point where my song takes place, Bill Pruitt (the central character) is in a coma being tended to by Chinese
doctors who might be experimenting on him and planting thoughts. In his mind he is
working at a biotech lab that has discovered the special gene for the 'genius' trait.
He is taking a drug derived from the genius gene that gives him great mental clarity
but with many added effects similar to those of hallucinogens or something.

Anyway, Bill Pruitt is taking these 'Crazy Cells' and using the increased mental
capacity they give him to work on an alphabet that merges the Chinese and English
languages such that speakers of either language can understand each other. He is
at the same time attempting to devise a marketing angle with which to sell 'Crazy
Cells'. Side effects happen to be bleeding eyes, ringing ears, and excess nasal
mucous. (Don't blame me; I didn't write this.) I think Bill's use of 'Crazy Cells'
is generally killing him, except of course that it's all in his head anyway. He's
in a coma, remember?

"Crazy Cells" is one song on "Catching Bill". The lyrics for it are:

My senses echo in brain-land
It's like I'm floating in space
I'm cruising close to insane-land
Hope you can't see it on my face

My nerves are clicking and clacking
Glia, neurons axons on fire
You better come in close now to find me
We're getting down to the wire

Everything's so clear I can't stand it
Merging different tongues into one
My Ameri-Chino alphabet is growing
But I need more time to get it done

These genius pills are a Godsend
Crazy Cells will soon be in fashion
To market them is going to be simple
Senses run amuck sell as passion

Sex sells
Those Crazy Cells
Don't think about it, Baby
You're senses wild and crazy

Sex sells
Those Crazy Cells
Libido liberated
Your sex reverberated

Sex sells
Those Crazy Cells
It's in your mind and body
You're having one big party

Now all the people in Beantown
Can find that life ain't so bad
Their senses firing on cylinders
They never knew that they had

Just a word of caution to give you
Federal law requires this here
Crazy Cells have a few side effects
Bleedin' eyes, boogers, ringin' ears

Sex sells
Those Crazy Cells
Don't think about it, Baby
Your sex goes wild and crazy

Sex sells
Those Crazy Cells
It's in your mind and body
You're having one big party

Our senses echo in brain-land
We're so happy floating in space
Cruising through the heart of insane-land
With every piece in its place
